Golden Valley Mobile Imaging

“The Valley Sierra SBDC played an integral role in getting Golden Valley Mobile Imaging off the ground. Their knowledge, guidance, and unwavering support helped turn my vision into reality.”

-Curtis Owens, Founder & Owner

Golden Valley Mobile Imaging provides professional mobile diagnostic imaging services, bringing high-quality X-ray technology directly to patients wherever they are. Golden Valley Mobile Imaging serves hospice agencies, skilled nursing facilities, assisted living communities, and private residences with convenient, bedside imaging services. Every study is performed by licensed radiologic technologists and interpreted by a board-certified radiologist, ensuring accurate results, patient safety, and timely reporting. Their mobile approach allows healthcare providers to deliver high-quality care, while improving comfort and accessibility for patients.
After spending eight years working as a travel radiologic technologist with Kaiser, Curtis Owens recognized a growing need for accessible diagnostic imaging services outside of traditional healthcare settings. His experience working directly with patients inspired him to launch a mobile imaging business focused on serving nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and individuals with mobility challenges or limited access to transportation. By bringing professional imaging services directly to patients, he aims to make the diagnostic process more convenient and comfortable. With significant startup costs, including a specially retrofitted vehicle to safely transport a portable X-ray machine, the imaging equipment itself, required licenses and permits, insurance, and other essential operating expenses, Curtis sought guidance on accessing capital. Through SBDC advising services, he received support in preparing for funding opportunities and developing a plan to secure the financial resources needed to successfully launch and grow his business. The SBDC provided one-on-one business advising focused on helping Curtis build a strong foundation for a successful business launch. Working closely with his advisor, Rhonda Lowe, he developed a comprehensive business plan using LivePlan, refined his startup cost projections, and determined his owner investment needed to support the business. The SBDC also guided him through the loan packaging process, helping him prepare the financial documentation and materials necessary to pursue funding with confidence.
Through 18 hours of one-on-one business advising, the SBDC supported Curtis throughout the funding preparation and loan application process. Working closely with his advisor, Curtis developed and submitted a complete loan package to Access Plus Capital in October 2025. As a result of the preparation and guidance provided, he successfully secured the financing he needed in January 2026, providing the capital necessary for his mobile imaging business.
Curtis felt that the most valuable part of the assistance he received was the personalized, one-on-one advising provided by the SBDC. He also credited the SBDC’s connection to capital resources as a key factor in his success, ultimately leading to the loan that brought Golden Valley Mobile Imagining to fruition.
